The candidate will be part of a lean team who will have the unique opportunity of playing a critical role in empowering our students, staff, faculty and researchers in their learning, discovery and innovation journeys:

Digital library services

  • Plan and implement innovative technologies and enhance the users’ experience to support the learning, teaching, research activities in SUTD
  • Co-ordinate the design, prototyping and enhance online services that provide seamless access to acquired or curated resources. Enhance the users’ experience in utilizing the Integrated Library Management System (Alma and Primo) and discovery services
  • Manage electronic management systems and associated metadata to ensure consistent access to the acquired and curated electronic contents
  • Establish best practices, standards and guidelines for creating, managing, preserving, describing, and delivering digital resources in different formats
  • Determine and manage appropriate metadata for the various types of content, including metadata quality control, data cleaning, editing, enhancement, migration, and mapping, using tools such as MarcEdit, OpenRefine, and SQL queries
  • Facilitate and curate data for analytical reporting from various systems and transform the data for data visualization

Scholarly communication services

  • Collaborate with departments on development of the Institutional Repository and manage the operations of repository services
  • Liaise and work with various stakeholders to provide research impact analysis
  • Develop and provide bibliometrics training programs for the faculty and staff
  • Explore and manage open access initiatives that supports scholarly communication services

Reference and research services

  • Provide reference and research services that are relevant to the SUTD community

Requirements

  • Degree holder with postgraduate qualifications in library and information related fields, and in-depth experience in library, research and training skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with strong command in English language
  • Knowledge of research process and information sources to support teaching and research
  • Understanding of library data formats and standards (MARC, Dublin Core, METS, MODs) as well as best practices in handling digital content
  • Good knowledge of technology used in library
  • Experience in supporting and using one or more library systems and discovery interfaces (Experience with Ex Libris’ Primo and Alma and OCLC’s WorldCat Discovery is desirable)
  • Hands-on understanding of web technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript/JQuery, XML/XSLT
  • Experience with web and user-centered design
  • Demonstrate knowledge of issues and technical challenges related to data curation, including privacy and de-identification, format migration, preservation, metadata, discovery, provenance, and data access (including Open Access)
  • Experience with Analytics and reporting tools
  • Good team player and is able to work in an open environment
