iTrust is a centre for research and education in cyber security at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). Local and international faculty, researchers, companies and students collaborate with iTrust to conduct cutting edge research in all areas of information and cyber security with a focus on Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) and the Internet of Things. Among the facilities supporting applied research is the Electric Power and Intelligent Control (EPIC) testbed, serves as a platform to assess the effectiveness of algorithms and techniques for CPS protection.

The Centre seeks to hire a qualified individual to fill the position of the Laboratory Specialist (Power), iTrust, for the EPIC testbed. The Specialist will report to the Laboratory Director of iTrust, and assist him in:

  1. ensuring lab day-to-day operations;
  2. supervising activities related to cyber research in the lab, ensuring that safety protocols are strictly adhered to;
  3. assisting researchers in setting up experiments;
  4. assisting in training;
  5. planning and executing installation, upgrading and maintenance of equipment in the lab; and
  6. administrative duties such as inventory management of the lab’s assets, explaining the lab’s functions and activities to visitors and supporting the Centre’s events.

 

An ideal candidate would be an independent and resourceful individual with good communication skills (written and spoken.) Interactions with faculty, research staff, and personnel from the government and industry will be frequent. The candidate should expect a portfolio with 30% administration and 70% technical work.

 

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering, with at least 2 years of related industry experience in substation automation
  • Experience with power generation, storage, distribution, and substation automation protocols is an advantage
  • Experience with PLC and SCADA/HMI control system software, and hardware is an advantage
  • Diploma graduates in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering with at least 4 years of related industry experience may also be considered for the position
  • Willing to commit to a 3-year contract
