Responsibilities:

Industry Collaboration (Engineering Systems and Design Pillar)

  • Seek, develop and grow industry partnerships to create research and project opportunities for students and faculty. Such opportunities include coursework related projects, Capstone and faculty-led research.
  • Network intensively with companies and market the pillar’s capabilities, in order to increase visibility and awareness of pillar’s programmes to potential industry partners.
  • Secure a strong portfolio of job placements and internship/attachment opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Secure corporate sponsorships, gifts and donations to support the pillar’s teaching and research programmes.
  • Plan and execute industry outreach programmes, including campus visits, seminars, workshops and field trips.
  • Manage the ESD Corporate Partners Programme

 

Research Management (Engineering Systems and Design Pillar)

  • Be the single point of contact between faculty and the Office of Research and Industry Collaboration (ORIC), as well as other funding agencies for all pillar research activities.
  • Provide assistance to faculty on all aspects of grant submission and management, including alerting faculty of funding opportunities, assisting them in timely preparation and submission of grant proposals, carrying out administrative procedures for grants, providing progress updates to internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring adherence to research policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain detailed records of all aspects of faculty research activity, including publications, patents, IP, budget and expenditure, for monitoring and reporting purposes.
  • Plan and execute programmes and events to showcase faculty’s research achievements.
  • Ensure that the research information pages on the pillar website are regularly kept up to date.

 

Research Management (Aviation Studies Institute)

  • Develop policies and auditable procedures to ensure that the group’s operations are aligned with the university’s guidelines and the funding agencies’ requirements.
  • Administer research programmes and ensure that programmes and projects are carried out according to schedule, approved policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that expenses are spent in accordance with approved budgets.
  • Progress tracking and management reporting at various internal and external platforms.
  • Handle the invitation of overseas visitors, which include assisting visitors with travel arrangements (e.g. flight and hotel bookings) and visa applications.
  • Procure and commission IT equipment and services to support research activities.
  • Develop marketing collaterals to promote the group’s capabilities and achievements.
  • Organize conferences / seminars / public forums to showcase the group’s capabilities in the ASEAN region and globally.
  • Establish new partnerships and collaborations with industry and agencies.
  • Follow through project agreements, including confidentiality and intellectual property arrangements.
  • Manage the group’s facilities, resources and office supplies to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Any other administrative duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Good degree in an engineering, science or mathematics related discipline.
  • Candidates with a postgraduate degree (Masters or PhD) will have an advantage.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of relevant working experience in the area of research management and industry engagement
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to pool expertise amongst colleagues and across disciplines
  • Good analytical, organization and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-driven, motivated and result-oriented, with the ability to set, meet and exceed goals
