Singapore university of technology and design is searching for excellent researchers in Aviation and transport related design, master planning, and/or infrastructure.

Project Description
This research is a main thrust in a university wide interdepartmental excellence cluster looking at the aviation sector. The specific research this is titled ‘Aviation: Horizon 2050” and focuses on the future of aviation terminal design towards the middle of this decade, specifically in the growing South East Asia region. It aims to research the 5 key scales of airport design: global, city, terminal, building, and user-experience in a progressive and connected way. Initially finding insight relating to future aviation terminals; looking at world economic and demographic trends, leading to aviation demand predictions, in parallel exploring technological disruptors to existing airport and airport-city-interfaces such as infrastructure and transportation innovation; translating this into effects on the terminal to allow the presentation of new proposals for novel adaptive airport and terminal building forms relevant to the South East Asian environment.
This work will be disseminated in various ways over the total 5-year duration, as publications and also though collaborations with industry especially designers and operations/commissioning bodies.

Researcher Description
The successful applicant would ideally have a strong academic background in architectural design or building engineering, ideally with a substantive aviation research or industry experience (either a university degree and/or over 2 years’ sector relevant work experience). People with a more analytical/systems/economic background may also be considered as the project will be supported by a number of collaborating researchers. They should be passionate about the aviation sector and keen to produce high quality design that is underpinned by carful research and technical scientific thinking.
The job aims to give a motivated self-starter the research freedom and space to explore new concepts, supported and guided within a group of domain experts with broad but strong academic and industrial backgrounds. The SUTD environment is new and well suited to those with initiative both professionally and socially.
