Position: Technologist/Senior Technologist

Suitable candidate must be able to undertake the followings in the following areas:

Architecture and Sustainable Design Pillar

  1. Serves as a resource personnel to provide training, consultation, and mentoring for students/staff on Fab Lab usage/matters.
  2. Function as a point of liaison between ASD and industry partners for any research/studio collaboration that involves fabrication.
  3. Work with and facilitate research collaboration among ASD staff, faculty, researchers, students, and external partners such as industry, public sector and government
  4. Support Pillar’s outreach initiatives ranging from exhibitions, outreach workshops and activities, conducting Fab lab tours, etc.
  5. Support any additional tasks assigned by ASD Senior Programme Manager / HOP


SUTD Fabrication Lab

  1. Provide technical and administrative support to the operations in the fabrication facility
  2. Track and maintain operating efficiency and utilisation of fabrication tools and equipment
  3. Plan and execute preventive maintenance of fabrication tools and equipment
  4. Ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations (e.g. EHS) and maintain good housekeeping practices on equipment and work area


Qualifications & Experiences

  1. Have received a Diploma / Bachelor degree in Engineering or Design
  2. Possess at least 3 years of experience engaging different external stakeholders in course of work or projects
  3. Have relevant experience setting up, managing and maintaining a fabrication lab/workshop;
  4. Possess relevant experience with a broad range of fabrication, tooling equipment and systems e.g. CNC machines, Wood working equipment, Sheet metal work, 3D printers & laser etc;
  5. Possess broad range of technical skills, and have established and operated systems for equipment and tooling scheduling and maintenance
  6. Be able to work both independently and in a team environment, and to take ownership of, and autonomously carry forward, major aspects of assigned projects and tasks
  7. Be resourceful, proactive and results-oriented with a positive attitude and the ability to communicate well with different stakeholders
  8. Be keen to integrate in and support a lively growing university faculty & research environment.
