Virtual Singapore is championed by the National Research Foundation (NRF), Prime Minister’s Office, Singapore, the Singapore Land Authority (SLA) and the Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech). It is a dynamic three-dimensional (3D) city model and collaborative data platform, including the 3D maps of Singapore intended for use by the public, private people and research sectors. The aim is to enable users from different sectors to develop sophisticated tools and applications for test-bedding smart city concepts and services, planning and decision-making, and research on technologies to solve emerging and complex challenges for Singapore.

The SUTD Virtual Singapore Competency Programme has the following objectives:

  1. To model digital twin, create complex use cases, develop apps, widgets and software robots as well as to define and develop APIs as necessary to be proficient and conversant with the capabilities of Virtual Singapore
  2. To undertake the role to train batches of users from government agencies and research institutions and commercial organisations with different levels of expertise

This project is a collaboration between the SUTD Academy, SUTD’s Architecture and Sustainable Design Pillar and SUTD-MIT International Design Centre, who leads the project.

SUTD Academy is the professional and continuing education arm of SUTD. It was established to enable its faculty and industry practitioners to update and upgrade the knowledge and skills of professionals, managers, executives and its Alumni through professional education and training. SUTD Academy believes in lifelong education that goes beyond formal learning and that is self-driven, self-planned and self-initiated. Courses are designed to develop the skills and knowledge of individuals to help them stay relevant in the knowledge-intensive and technology-driven economy, overcome the numerous challenges of tomorrow and excel in their career.

The Architecture and Sustainable Design Pillar encompasses teaching and research and research in building design, planning, analysis, construction and manufacturing. The pillar is one of only two universities in Singapore accredited and endorsed with the Board of Architects. Its work is focused on understanding and supporting Singapore and the region but also seeking transformative new approaches to architecture and master planning with global relevance inspired by a local approach. It seeks to address the major challenges of sustainably, liveability, and urbanization though intensive research and development of new technologies and approaches with collaborations with government agencies such as URA, BCA, and HDB.

The mission of the SUTD-MIT International Design Centre (IDC) is to drive design research and innovation, in collaboration with a wide spectrum of researchers, global enterprise, government and social stakeholders. Its three core objectives are to advance design theory and methodology, using design to address key societal challenges, and integrating design theory and methods with practice.  IDC has to date trained over 13,000 people in Singapore in Design Innovation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead for administrative matters for Virtual Singapore Competency Centre
  • Coordinate registration, on-boarding, pre-course logistics arrangement and post-course evaluation for trainings
  • Provide customer support to prospective participants
  • Manage procurement matters for Virtual Singapore Competency Centre
  • Prepare Income and Expenditure reports for trainings
  • Coordinate grant claims between the finance and grant agency
  • KPI tracking and reporting
  • Budget management and reporting
  • Learn the basics of the use of the Virtual Singapore platform.

Job Requirements: -

  • A diploma or above in any field
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in administrative role preferably in the training sector
  • Basic finance and accounting knowledge
  • Possess a customer-oriented mindset
  • Creative problem-solver
  • Self-starter and resourceful
