The candidate will play a key role in spearheading SUTD’s research analytics strategy, governance, and digital transformation efforts. S/he will be the key contributor in drawing insights and trends from research grants, collating, organising and analysing research data and metrics to make recommendations for policy implementation, research governance, strategy setting, fore-sighting, and research opportunities. S/he will lead the analysis work and drive efforts to identify opportunities for policy and process improvements to position SUTD and the Office of Research to advance our digital transformation and automation endeavors. In this role, the candidate is expected to work closely with faculty and researchers, and collaborate effectively across departments to generate research-related metrics and reports for key meeting platforms, with a view to providing leadership with informed decisions on research strategy and resource allocation etc to promulgate SUTD’s research agenda. S/he will also support Board level committees/taskforces and meetings as secretariat. The candidate should possess a technical background, coupled with a good understanding of the research community and landscape, especially in S&T policy and planning. S/he should have excellent writing skills, analytical, good with numbers and handling large data sets, methodological, able to distil diverse information into specific takeaways, and be proficient with data mining, and computational skills.

Duties are likely to include the following:

  • Engage with research stakeholders and partners to understand needs and facilitate strategic research initiatives;
  • Work with university research centre directors, faculty to conceptualise and develop large scale integrative research programmes;
  • Analyse S&T trends and data to inform research foresighting efforts to identify research opportunities;
  • Create infographics to communicate the impact of SUTD research;
  • Generate content to communicate research capabilities and outcomes through the use of social media and collaterals;
  • Advance SUTD research in international and local platforms to grow mindshare;
  • Develop research analytics management framework and processes, governance frameworks, and identify digital transformation initiatives; and
  • Support the Office of Research in advancing the research agenda of SUTD.


The eligibility criteria below are not exhaustive. The candidate should ideally:

  • Have received a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific/technical discipline;
  • Have at least 5 years of working experience, preferably in a S&T/R&D environment;
  • Have a genuine interest in R&D and emerging research areas, as well as a curiosity to discover and conceptualise new ideas and concepts;
  • Possess knowledge and understanding of both global and local R&D ecosystems/trends;
  • Possess strong organisational, critical thinking, and analytical skills;
  • Possess strong communication (written, verbal, and presentation) skills;
  • Be skilled in Microsoft word, excel and PowerPoint applications;
  • Be able to work independently and in a team environment;
  • Be able to take ownership of, and autonomously carry forward, key aspects of work related to the position; and
  • Be able to integrate in and support a vibrant growing university research environment.
