This position is responsible for supporting operations of the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster at SUTD (NAMIC@SUTD) as well as promotion of NAMIC@SUTD’s capabilities to industry, and to secure R&D collaborations and technology licensing with industry partners.

NAMIC@SUTD supports Singapore’s National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster, which is a programme funded by the National Research Foundation (NRF) and administered by NRF’s appointed Programme Office, NTUitive.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Manage NAMIC@SUTD’s activities to ensure work is executed in alignment with funding agency’s terms and to achieve the KPIs set for NAMIC@SUTD.
  • Work with NTUitive and internal SUTD stakeholders to integrate and execute any new instructions, guidelines and procedures that affect NAMIC@SUTD’s operations as well as to ensure compliance with SUTD’s internal protocols.
  • Work with relevant SUTD departments to manage NAMIC@SUTD’s budget and hardware assets to secure approval of operational budget and timely reimbursement as well as securing space for installation and commissioning of hardware.
  • Engage and identify industry partners to secure collaboration projects, as well as provide feedback on industry needs, to help NAMIC@SUTD advance its goals.
  • Support and organise outreach and training activities.
  • Structure, review, assess and negotiate different types of contract between NAMIC@SUTD and external parties, as well as facilitate setting of project scope for the contract.  This requires interactions with multiple parties within and external of SUTD, e.g. SUTD legal, technology transfer and research offices, SUTD faculty, NTUitive, as well as external collaborators from both public and private sectors.
  • Support administration of contracts by working with NTUitive, external collaborators and relevant SUTD offices to organise meetings and facilitate reporting, and other project implementation requirements e.g. project variation requests.
  • Assist SUTD faculty by providing guidance on funding structure, contract matters and IP management for their application to NAMIC grants as well as in commercial contracts.
  • Support and advise on project proposals seeking NAMIC grant support to ensure alignment with funding guidelines and terms.

Required/Desired Skills

  • Familiar with Singapore public sector grant management operations, guidelines and principles.
  • Familiar with contract law, as well as IP management and commercialisation strategies across hardware and software.
  • Excellent written, presentation, and oral communication skills; ability to convincingly communicate complex technical ideas to industry partners.
  • Must be self-starter, highly organised, and able to work independently as well as effectively in a team.
  • Familiar with Singapore industry landscape in manufacturing and design; familiarity with the additive manufacturing industry is an advantage.
  • Experience with university-industry collaborations is desired.

Required/Desired Qualifications & Experiences

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience (3-5 years preferred) in programme management and industry development within a technology/research organisation, preferably in manufacturing and design fields. 
  • Proven track record in fostering collaborations between industry and university (or public sector research institutes) is desired.
