Job Description
The job holder will be responsible to provide secretariat support to the Singapore University of Technology and Design, Institutional Review Board (SUTD-IRB) and manage the review and approval process of human biomedical and social, behavioural and educational research in SUTD.
Duties & Responsibilities
• To conduct preliminary review of research protocols submitted to SUTD-IRB and ensure these submitted protocols are reviewed efficiently and are consistent with the regulations, policies and guidelines; • To conduct review of protocol amendments, annual continuing review and matters of non-compliance of approved, ongoing research protocols; • To conduct research monitoring of research studies as and when required; • To maintain IRB study-related documentation in accordance with SUTD policies on data security and protection; • To update and maintain SUTD-IRB’s website when required; • To report to the relevant authorities and SUTD management as and when required; • Develop programs and handbooks to orient new researchers to institutional policies, rules, and guidelines; • To support and assist in the promotion and implementation of SUTD policies and procedures in relation to data protection and research integrity, through the development of programs and a handbook; • To interpret and apply ethical principles applicable to research involving humans, human data and tissue, and serve as a resource for faculty, researchers, other study personnel and administrators in ethics related matters; • To perform any other ad-hoc job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited university. • At least 3-5 years of working experience in research conduct involving ethical approval, and/or administration related to research ethics/ research compliance/ regulatory affairs. • Understanding of the research landscape in Singapore and knowledge of current developments/trends in area of expertise would be an advantage • Is meticulous with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. • Possesses strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills in order to manage cross-functional, institutional relationships and ability to multitask. • Able to work effectively, as part of a team, as well as independently • Must possess strong commitment to confidentiality, fairness, tact and discretion and mature judgment as confidential information is routinely encountered. • Proactive in keeping up-to-date with the latest developments in research integrity and data management. • Proficient in the use of MS office applications.
