Job purpose:

As a senior staff member in the graduate studies team, you will have a primary role in engaging with students, faculty members and senior administrators on academic policies, curriculum matters, funding (scholarships etc.), student recruitment and other critical matters related to our PhD & Masters’ programmes.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Inform and work closely with the programme faculty members on the graduate programme matters including up-to-date development on policies, procedures and requirements
  • Serve as a focal point of contact between Graduate Studies and the faculty members to plan and manage the resources required
  • Provide support to faculty members graduate related matters including student recruitment and management of studies and candidature  
  • Assist in the evaluation of applications for admission, academic performance, degree completion and exceptions to the faculty members and Office of Education
  • Maintain knowledge of the standards in the various disciplines for thesis, papers, dissertation or projects and communicate these to the students
  • Attend to graduate student enquiries, monitor, and provide good guidance to their academic requirements including schedule of deadlines to ensure timely progress
  • Work closely with Office of Education, Student Admin and Finance on student and funding matters
  • Develop policies and facilitate programmes at the graduate level
  • Monitor and review current processes, create, and implement recommendations
  • Collect and analyze data and trends to enhance policies relating to graduate programmes
  • Participate in admission, recruitment talks and events and coordinate these activities in close contact with those perform these functions
  • Support collaboration and maintain partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders including industry partners, government agencies, and scholarship awarding agencies.

 

Requirements:

  • Require a Master or PhD degree in any discipline  
  • 3-5 years of working experience in academic, research or higher institute of learning would be an added advantage
  • Strong interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills
  • Possess analytical and strategic thinking
  • Ability to map actions and processes in connectivity to graduate programmes
  • Creative, meticulous, resourceful, and self-motivated
  • Proficient in the use of IT tools including Microsoft Office
