Job Description

 

The Information Systems Technology and Design (ISTD) pillar seeks applications to fill several teaching track faculty positions. Depending on teaching experience, an appointment could be at the level of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and Principal Lecturer. Qualified applicants will be invited for an on-site interview and asked to give an hour long talk that includes a short micro-teaching segment to demonstrate their teaching abilities. Applicants must possess a PhD in Computer Science or a related field. Candidates with Bachelor or Master’s degree with at least 10 years of teaching expereince in Computer Science will also be considered. Initial appointment will be for up to three years with extension based on performance.

 

Faculty duties include teaching subjects at the undergraduate level, and service to SUTD and the community. A successful candidate will be able to teach the introductory programming classes, and at least two of the core subjects offered in the ISTD pillar. Teaching track faculty is evaluated primarily based on performance in teaching.

 

SUTD has adopted a cohort-based active learning pedagogy. Cohorts are small sized enabling highly interactive sessions where faculty and students engage to create an effective learning experience. These include the SUTD-MIT International Design Center (IDC), iTrust center for research in cyber security, the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities (LKYCIC), and the Digital Manufacturing and Design (DManD) Center. Teaching track faculty interested in maintaining a research program will likely find these centers attractive.
