Faculty Position - Engineering Product Development
Engineering Product Development (EPD) invites applicant for an opening for Associate Professor (without tenure) or a practice-track associate professor. EPD is an interdisciplinary program in SUTD consisting education and research the fields in robotics, materials science and engineering, computation science, engineering for healthcare, design science, optics and photonics. This position is open to candidate whose research/technical expertise fall under any of the above topics. This position also constitutes a very exciting and unique opportunity to mature with, and help shape the design and innovation culture in SUTD. The candidate may also be considered for an academic director role in the newly established SUTD Eco-City Research and Innovation Center (SERIC). As an academic director, the candidate will interact with the governing bodies, funding agencies, academic and the industrial eco-systems to advance the interest of SERIC. For this role, candidate conversant in Mandarin is preferred.
The candidate must have:
- Experience in successfully launching startups or has relevant entrepreneurial efforts or experiences in research to commercialization; translational research, research and development of product
- Experience in working autonomously and in teams, and/or led a sizable R&D team
- A willingness to tackle complex problems potentially spanning across multiple application disciplines
- Effective communicators and experiences in managing multiple stakeholders
- The drive to network and engage with funding agencies and companies, and secure the necessary funding to conduct research
- A PhD in Engineering or science, with a proven record of high quality research
The candidate can have:
- Experiences or aspiration in teaching
- A track record of advising Doctoral, Master, and undergraduate students
