The Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) cluster at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) seeks applicants for a full-time open-rank open-track faculty position in quantitative social science, with a preference in psychology, population health and lifespan development. Specific areas of interest may include (but not restricted to) aging, patterns of health and social determinants, gerontechnology, sociology of health, community intervention, etc. An interest in interdisciplinary approaches to studying the interrelationships between gerontology, technology, design, community healthcare and human behavior is desirable. The ideal candidate will have a collaborative and entrepreneurial spirit, strong foundation in statistical, data science and or/machine learning methods, and able to apply these methods with a critical perspective in the behavioral and community health domain to create societal impact.

 

This position is part of a broader university-wide focus on both 'Healthcare' and 'Artificial Intelligence'. The ideal candidate will complement and strengthen the HASS cluster and collaborate with colleagues across SUTD that work on similar topics from architecture, engineering and computer science perspectives.

 

Candidates should hold a PhD in Quantitative Social Science, Psychology, Cognitive Epidemiology, or related field, with a proven track record of effective teaching and active research with commitment to interdisciplinary research collaborations. The successful candidate will strengthen the department's teaching and research focus on healthcare issues.

SUTD's academic year consists of three terms, with every third term designated as research term. We specifically seek creative scholars/practitioners with the potential for developing new directions in humanities and social sciences teaching and research, and who are interested in joining an interdisciplinary group of scholars at an engineering and design university.

 

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development and functioning of both the HASS program and SUTD. This includes teaching and developing courses in their speciality, in addition to teaching in the department's team-taught core courses. He or she must hold a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in an appropriate field by the start date.
