Research Assistant
The Language and Social Cognition Lab (PI: Prof. W. Quin Yow) at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is looking for a full-time Research Assistant (RA) to join our team in July/August 2023. The RA will assist lab members and the PI with research project on social cognitive development in both children and older people. Key responsibilities will include participant recruitment, collection of behavioral and fNIRS data, data analysis, and administrative duties. The RA will have opportunities for contributions to ongoing research projects, leading to the possibility of contributing to scientific presentations and publications. Candidates who have previous experience with eye-tracking/fNIRS studies of children or older adults are highly encouraged to apply.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, human development, neuroscience, education or related field.
- Experience working with preschool children and/or older people.
- Experience with behavioral and/or neuroimaging research methods, such as eye-tracking, fNIRS, EEG, to assist in study design, data collection and analysis.
- Familiarity with statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, JASP, Matlab) and other research tools (e.g., PsychoPy, Photoshop/Adobe, Qualtrics, HTML) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with MS Office, OneDrive, Zoom, and Google docs is necessary for day-to-day functioning of the lab.
- Fluency in both English and Mandarin to communicate with elderly.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Be confident working both independently as well as with others as a team.
- Be comfortable with technical trouble shooting.
- The ideal candidate will be able to learn quickly, show initiative, and is enthusiastic about developmental research.
*Initial appointment will be for a one-year period and will be renewable subject to performance and availability of funding.
