Research Associate / Research Assistant
The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) seeks to hire a qualified individual to fill the position of the Research Associate / Research Assistant. At the core are fundamental disciplines of computer science and electrical engineering.
The project is a collaborative project involving a commercial company and iTrust, Centre for Research in Cyber Security. The candidate will be required to work alongside other team members from iTrust and the collaborating company, on the deliverables towards a system to assess reliability for patch applications in Cyber Physical Systems involving electrical power grids. The focus will be on using secure-by-design principles to develop a reliability testing software system before and after patch application. Algorithms and prototypes produced in an earlier project will be recycled and secured. Analytics for communication protocol log-files have will be developed and added. The final product is translated into a downstream prototype for deployment and testing in a commercial setting at customer premises.
An ideal candidate will be a resourceful individual who is able to work independently, at the same time, have good interpersonal and communication skills to work with a tight-knit project team. Since this is a Translational/ Commercialization project, the candidate can expect an excellent involvement in applied research, hands-on implementation on a commercial SCADA DMS/EMS systems and potential for further spin-offs.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Bachelor / Master degree in computer science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with focus on systems, database and networks.
- Basic exposure to cyber security with focus on patch and vulnerability management, application security is desirable.
- Sound fundamental knowledge of TCP/IP and serial networks.
- Familiar with Unix OS, C, C++, Java and scripting languages for example Python, Javascript or Powershell.
- Keen interests in user interface design and user experience.
- Experience in SCADA/PLC & HMI in Power System Control is an added bonus.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Willing to commit for at least 2 ½ years.
