Research Fellow I
The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is now accepting applications for post-doctoral research fellows in robotics and automation, AI, airport operations, operations research and optimisation, algorithm design and high-performance computing, with application to airport innovation.
Successful candidates will join an active group of Principal Investigators and researchers to work within the Aviation Studies Institute (ASI) of SUTD. ASI was established jointly with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) in 2019. Our goal is to establish a world-leading centre of aviation policy research and thought leadership. We are dedicated to address the needs of aviation stakeholders in general and Air Traffic Management (ATM) policy makers in particular to advance the development of aviation in the Asia-Pacific region.
The candidates will be advancing the state of airport operations and envisaging the airport of the future while making excellent scholarly contributions and innovations for transition to practice. Topics include, but are not limited to, robotics and automation in aircraft turnaround, digital apron connectivity, optimization of ground service equipment, process mapping and stakeholder management.
An ideal candidate will have a PhD with expertise in one (or) more of the following areas:
- Robotics and Automation, especially with contact-rich tasks;
- Operations Research, with expertise in optimisation;
- Computer Science, with expertise in design and analysis of algorithms and high-performance (GPU) computing;
- Industrial and Systems Engineering, with AI in process mapping and Conops design.
With SUTD located next to the number #1-ranked airport in the world (Singapore’s Changi Airport) and a stimulating aviation ecosystem, there will be plenty of opportunities to work closely with industry experts to tackle the challenges in airport modernisation and operations excellence.
