What Your Job Will Be Like
Assistant Professor Liu Xiaogang’s group is looking for a research fellow to (1) computationally model fluorescent organic molecules, to reveal their detailed working mechanism and systematically summarize molecular design rules for developing novel dyes with tailored properties, and/or (2) synthesize organic dyes, characterize their spectral properties and biocompatibility, and conduct bioimaging/biosensing work based on these dyes.
The postdoctoral researcher will work as part of a team and interact closely with both computational chemists and experimentalists. Research topics include (but are not limited to) developing novel fluorophores with enhanced brightness and photostability for super-resolution fluorescence imaging and two-photon fluorescence imaging, and fluorescent probes with various functionalities.
This job is for a one-year period, with the option for further extension (for up to three years in total).
A highly competitive salary package will be offered.
Qualifications We Require
PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a closely related field
Published evidence of scientific contributions
Qualifications We Desire
Experience with molecular dynamics simulations and/or ab initio calculations, particularly in DFT and TD-DFT
Experience with chemical synthesis, characterizations, and bioimaging work.
A strong passion for research
Good understanding of photochemistry, photophysics, and biochemistry
Good communication (both speaking and writing) skills and team spirit
Interested applicants should submit their full CV/resume, cover letter, a list of two references (to include reference names and contact information), and three recent papers that highlight your best-related research contributions. We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
